The Alumold aluminum plate is an alloy that is commonly used for its mechanical characteristics. It is popularly used in applications within the plastics industry. It has excellent responsiveness and efficiency. The machining properties of this alloy are favorable and easy to polish. This cuts down on the time required to make molds, which also makes it more cost-effective. The strength of this alloy is excellent, enabling it to be used in high strength mold applications. This grade of alloy can be used for thermoplastic injection molds that have large or medium series. It can also be used for blow molds, which has a need for metals that have a high resistance of the parting line and/or the knives. Other applications this product can be used for include RIM molds, RTM, structural foam molds and other low volume production injection molds. It has superior strength because of its aluminum content. It also has good hardness and tensile and yield strengths.

The material characteristics of this product include the ability to be age-hardened and stress-relieved, good property homogeneity throughout the plate, thickness up to 700 mm and a max service temperature at 230 degrees F. When Alumold aluminum plates are created, they are rolled out and stretched in thicknesses between 1 and 8 inches. The end product is strong and hard, and has excellent corrosion resistance. Compared to some other aluminum products it has better thermal conductivity. This product has the excellent capabilities for being milled, polished, engraved, etched and can be welded with proper technique. The molds created using this grade of aluminum have long-lasting durability, making it an excellent choice in the plastics industry.

The available sizes for this Alumold aluminum plate are between 1 and 8 inches thick, 48 and 60 inches wide and up to 148 inches long.
